Lamego

Lamego, where history inspires tomorrow

It was among vineyard-covered hills and ancient legends that Portugal was born. According to tradition, it was here, in the mythical Cortes of Lamego, that D. Afonso Henriques was acclaimed as the first King of Portugal and where the first lines of the monarchy were drawn. But Lamego doesn’t live only in the past. Today, it delights the senses with the aroma of cured ham, the rich taste of oven-roasted goat with traditional rice, and the sparkle of locally crafted Espumante and Port wine. Lamego is a place where tradition is savoured at the table, and every landscape tells a breathtaking story.
